Tips For Hiring A Skip
We always aim to make our customers’ lives easier, that is why we want to give you our best tips for when you hire a skip.

Waste Licenses
First of all, please make sure that any company you use holds the appropriate waste carrier license. If they do it should mean that they are responsible and get rid of your waste in the correct manner, someone without said license may just fly-tip or send rubbish to landfill without recycling.
Check your location
Secondly, make sure that you have room for a skip before you process your order. The truck used to drop off a skip cannot come in at an angle so you need to make sure you have the appropriate space to accommodate this. You should have a 3-meter clearance distance once the skip has been set down. If you don’t have this room on your property you may be able to keep it on the road with the correct permits in place.
Decide on size
The correct size skip is vital in your order process, you may be questioning which size you’re going to need, if so take a look at our skip size guide. If you are trying to decide between two different sizes, we always suggest going for the bigger size in order to avoid an exchange. Over-filling your skip could mean a wasted journey charge of £85 as well as leaving you with a skip to empty before we will attempt collection again. We will not take a skip if it is filled past an appropriate level as it can be very dangerous to other road users.
Don’t overfill
Avoid wasted journey charges by making sure your skip isn’t overfilled, in the correct place, and free from obstructions. If you aren’t ready for collection please call us to see if we can arrange an extension on your skip hire. If we come to collect your skip and have to leave the job incomplete, it will incur a wasted journey charge.
Avoid charges
Another reason we may not take a full skip would be if it were filled with heavy waste. This could mean it is full of soil or concrete for example. This would mean the skip is extra heavy and the truck may struggle to load it, you will have to empty the waste out of the skip in order for it to be taken away from your property. This generally applies to skips under 6 yards.
